Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

If you are considering undergoing a laser treatment or other procedure at Gloow Clinics, you might still have some questions. To provide you with all the necessary information, we have compiled the most frequently asked questions for you.

Laser treatments

Yes! We use the ICE Diode Triplewave laser for this purpose. This laser targets the proteins in the hair follicle. The heat is gradually built up, reaching approximately 45 degrees Celsius. This is a safe temperature and is even experienced as pleasant. Additionally, the Diode ICE Triplewave laser is equipped with an ICE head that cools down to -15 degrees Celsius. As a result, the laser treatment is painless. It's impossible for lymph and sweat glands to be damaged.

At Gloow, we specialize in painless laser treatments. Additionally, we use the best laser devices that are FDA-approved and adhere to the latest technologies. The Diode ICE Triplewave laser also features an ICE head that cools down to -15 degrees Celsius. This, combined with a cooling gel and a relaxed treatment room, ensures that the laser treatment is not perceived as painful but is even experienced as relaxing.

Laser treatments are generally suitable for all ages. Keep in mind that in younger individuals, hair growth has just begun and the body is still producing new hairs actively. As a result, the treatment process may take a bit longer.

Even tanned skin can undergo a laser treatment. This is because the laser effectively targets the proteins in the hair follicle and not the skin's pigment. Therefore, you can be treated during any season. Please note: it's advisable to avoid extensive sun exposure or tanning bed use approximately one week before and one week after the treatment. The skin simply needs a little time to rest.

Everyone is welcome at Gloow, no one is excluded. While other clinics use different laser devices that are only suitable for specific skin and hair types, we use lasers that are suitable for all skin and hair types. So, you are always welcome at Gloow, regardless of your skin type, hair type, gender, background, age, and financial situation. Please note: very light or gray hairs conduct heat slightly less effectively to the hair follicles. This can result in slower hair reduction and potentially less noticeable results.

Laser hair removal is a permanent hair removal method. A lasered hair follicle will never produce new hairs again, so the treated hairs stay gone. However, it's important to note that the body continues to produce new hairs due to hormones. That's why we recommend coming in for a maintenance treatment annually.

Absolutely! The 5x5 full body package can be paid in two installments. This is done during the first two treatments. Individual treatments cannot be paid in installments.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer a guarantee, simply because every individual is unique. The laser works differently on each person, making it impossible for us to guarantee the number of treatments needed or the ultimate result. It's even possible that the laser has little or no effect on your hair growth. In such cases, you might be a non-responder. Unfortunately, we cannot predict these situations in advance.

There are several contraindications that we strictly adhere to and do not make exceptions for. Laser hair removal is not allowed during pregnancy, for individuals with epilepsy, cancer, undergoing chemotherapy, and those with a pacemaker.

As you have read, you are not eligible for a laser treatment during pregnancy. Laser hair removal after pregnancy is certainly possible, but from experience, we recommend avoiding it shortly after giving birth. This is because the hormonal balance is unsettled. Enjoy your time with your family and allow your body to recover first. If you're planning to start laser hair removal after pregnancy, our specialists are happy to advise you on the best approach for you regarding pregnancy and the laser treatment.

It's not possible to go over tattoos and piercings during the laser treatment. During the procedure, the specialist will cover the tattoos to ensure that we don't go over them with the laser device. Any piercings can be removed or, if not possible, taped over. If the area you want to have laser hair removal on is fully covered with tattoos, then unfortunately laser hair removal is not possible.

Laser hair removal and IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) hair removal are often confused with each other. However, they are two very different hair removal methods, both in terms of safety and effectiveness. With IPL, the light is much less intense than with a laser treatment, causing the hair follicles to only weaken, resulting in a temporary outcome. This requires more treatments compared to laser treatment. On the other hand, a laser emits a powerful, more selective energy beam that completely destroys the hair follicle. As a result, the treatment is truly permanent. IPL hair removal is also painful, whereas laser treatment is not.

After the laser treatment, your hair will regrow as usual. Around two weeks later, you'll notice that the hairs we were able to target in the right growth phase start to fall out.

Laser hair removal of the bikini line is not an issue during menstruation as long as you wear a tampon. Tampons and moist wipes are available at the clinic for you to freshen up before the treatment.

Permanent laser hair removal works very well on areas with ingrown hairs. As the hairs are gradually destroyed, skin irritations like ingrown hairs will naturally diminish.

We recommend repeating the laser treatment every 4 to 6 weeks. As the sessions progress and depending on the results, this period can be extended. Results are clearly visible from the first session. As the treatment progresses, the growth of the remaining hairs slows down, and the hairs become thinner and sparser. For an optimal end result, it's important to complete the entire treatment course.

Facial treatments

Yes, every treatment can be booked by both men and women.

Don't know which treatment is best for your skin? Visit our clinic for a skin scan. This way, we'll know exactly what your face needs and which treatments are the best match. If you have further questions, our specialists are always here to help. They can also provide advice on other treatments if desired.

It's preferable to come to the treatment without makeup. On the day of the treatment, we recommend avoiding intense exercise or hot showers.

With the use of the right products, you should expect minimal downtime. This means that there might be slight flaking and your skin could feel tight in the week following the treatment. There won't be any extreme peeling, discoloration, or swelling.

If you have sensitive skin, we will adjust your products accordingly and first strengthen your skin barrier so that your skin becomes less sensitive. Afterward, you can use more intensive products to further improve your skin. Since these products contain active ingredients that penetrate deep into the skin, your skin might react with dryness, redness, and flakiness. This is a normal skin renewal process and will resolve on its own.

Electrostimulation (EMS)

In Electro Muscular Stimulation (EMS), electrodes are placed on different parts of the body (global EMS) or only on a specific muscle (local EMS). These electrodes are connected to a device that sends electrical impulses to the muscles. The electrical impulses are adjusted for intensity and frequency. Through muscle contractions, the muscles are trained and body corrections can be performed.

Electro Muscular Stimulation (EMS) is suitable for those who want to burn fat faster and increase muscle size. However, EMS is also definitely suitable for individuals who want to change their body shape. EMS is a suitable method for both trained athletes and untrained individuals.

By frequently using EMS, it's possible to change your body shape and transform your body into a "dream body." Accumulated fat mass that has been troubling you for years and seems impossible to get rid of can be converted into muscle mass through electrostimulation. Whether you want a toned abdomen or peachy buttocks, these can be achieved through EMS training.

The speed and amount of results you'll see depend on your personal situation and goals. Every individual is unique, of course. A customized treatment plan will be created based on your preferences and objectives.

We recommend undergoing an EMS treatment at least once a week to achieve good and rapid results. In some cases, it's possible to have two treatments per week. However, we advise against having more than two treatments due to muscle recovery considerations.

Electrostimulation treatments are safe, painless, and non-invasive. A potential side effect is mild muscle soreness for a short period.

We recommend wearing comfortable sportswear and drinking 1 liter of water before the treatment. It's also important to drink 1 liter of water after the treatment to help flush out toxins. After the treatments, you can resume your daily activities as usual.

Cavitation treatment (FAT X)

Cavitation, also known as ultrasonic cavitation, is a slimming treatment that uses sound waves to break down fat cells. It's the solution for fat removal in areas that are difficult to address through exercise and diet alone. Think of the abdomen and buttocks. During a cavitation treatment, fatty acids and waste materials are removed from the body using sound waves. It's also effective in reducing cellulite.

A cavitation treatment is aimed at specific problem areas that are difficult to reach with other treatment methods. With a cavitation treatment, localized fat accumulations are targeted specifically. It's possible to achieve a narrower waist and flatter stomach after several sessions. Additionally, 'love handles' and cellulite can decrease, and you can welcome toned triceps.

Results vary from person to person, depending on your body composition, gender, and age. Some clients measure a reduction in circumference of 1 to 2 cm after just one session. Most people undergo multiple treatments to achieve the best result. After each treatment, the natural process begins where fat cells start to die off. Gradually, these fat cells disappear.

We recommend undergoing a cavitation treatment at least once a week to achieve good and quick results. In some cases, a cavitation treatment twice a week is possible.

No, cavitation treatments are not dangerous. They are non-invasive and painless. Possible side effects include bruising. You might also experience increased thirst and reduced appetite. These issues can be resolved by drinking enough water immediately after the treatment.

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing (such as sportswear) to the treatment. To facilitate the quicker elimination of waste products from the body and reduce potential side effects, it's important to drink 1 liter of water before the treatment and 1 liter after the treatment. You can resume your daily activities immediately after the cavitation treatment.

Lymphatic drainage treatment

Lymphatic drainage, also known as pressotherapy, is a treatment in which the natural blood circulation and lymphatic flow are stimulated. This helps in better removal of excess fluid and waste materials. It's a relaxing treatment that involves the use of an air pressure suit.

Pressotherapy provides:

  • Faster elimination of body fat after a cavitation treatment
  • Reduction of cellulite
  • Effective drainage of fluids
  • Improvement in metabolism and blood circulation
  • Activation of fat metabolism

If your lymphatic system isn't functioning as desired and you want to improve its condition, then lymphatic drainage is a treatment for you. Accumulation of fluids and blockages in the lymphatic pathways can result from poor habits such as smoking, fatty foods, lack of exercise, and alcohol consumption. This is, of course, not pleasant. Pressotherapy is suitable if you:

    • Struggle with weight loss and weight maintenance
    • Experience cellulite (in combination with a cavitation treatment)
    • Deal with poor circulation
    • Retain a lot of fluids and waste materials (blockage in the lymphatic system)
    • Feel fatigued or lack energy

The treatment is relaxing. Pressotherapy involves an electronically controlled air pressure massage, using a special air pressure suit. The so-called lymphatic drainage is directed through the segments of the suit. The wave-like movements, caused by the air pressure, improve lymph and blood circulation, leading to the removal of excess fluid and waste materials. Blood circulation improves, and you feel more energetic. The lymphatic drainage device detoxifies the body while simultaneously stimulating fat burning. This makes it easier to lose weight. Did you know that during a lymphatic drainage treatment, you can burn around 500 to 600 calories?

Treatment is not allowed:

  • In case of neurological disorders
  • In case of hemophilia (blood clotting disorder)
  • In case of thrombosis
  • During pregnancy and up to 6 weeks after childbirth
  • Within three months after an (abdominal) surgery

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing (such as sportswear) to the treatment. To facilitate the quicker elimination of waste products from the body and reduce potential side effects, it's important to drink 1 liter of water before the treatment and 1 liter after the treatment. You can resume your daily activities immediately after the lymphatic drainage treatment. In some cases, you might experience diarrhea after the treatment. In this case, drink more water.
